Common Questions
How do I join NAPTOSA?
Visit our Membership page or contact your nearest provincial office. The online application takes under 5 minutes. Complete your personal and employment details, and our team will verify and activate your membership within 48 working hours.
What does membership cost?
The 2026 SRT booklet lists the standard membership fee as R132.50 per month, collected through PERSAL Table 139 Code 026 or bank debit order depending on your employment type. Associate and student rates should be confirmed with the Western Cape office at infowc@naptosa.org.za.
Who can I call in a crisis, such as a disciplinary hearing?
Call the Western Cape office immediately on 021 686 8521 (Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:30). Outside hours, log a support request via the member portal and an officer will contact you by the next working day. Never attend a disciplinary hearing without NAPTOSA representation.
How do I access legal support?
All active members have access to free legal advice on employment matters. Log a request through the member portal or contact your provincial office. A labour relations officer will be assigned to your matter within 24 hours.
How do I update my personal or employer details?
Log in to the NAPTOSA member portal and update your profile, or contact the Western Cape office at infowc@naptosa.org.za with your updated details and membership number.
Can I transfer my membership to another province?
Yes. If you move provinces, notify your current provincial office in writing. Your membership and case history transfer to the new provincial office, with no break in coverage.
Does NAPTOSA represent retired educators?
NAPTOSA offers a Retiring Associate category for members transitioning into retirement. This category provides continued community access, the monthly newsletter, partner discounts, and conference participation.
How does disciplinary support work?
When you face a disciplinary matter, NAPTOSA assigns a trained labour relations officer to advise you, help you prepare your response, and represent you at hearings. We handle everything from informal investigations to formal CCMA referrals, at no additional cost to you.
